Crawlspace Encapsulation and Stabilization in Shelby, OH
Challenge
Homeowners in Shelby, OH called Mid-State Basement Systems because they were ready to clean up their dirty and moldy crawlspace. There was fiberglass insulation hanging down through the area with mold growth on this, as well as the floor joists and walls. There were also unstable concrete block pillars holding up the floor that were beginning to sink. Bricks were wedged between the floor joists and the pillars as they sunk to continue upholding the floor of the home.
Solution
Our certified inspector, John Tongol, visited the home to do a thorough examination of the crawlspace and home. He determined that the best solution would be to remove all of the old hanging-down insulation and spray the mold to get rid of it. Then, the crew would install SmartJack support jacks to provide reliable stabilization to the sagging floors and lift them back to their original position. Next, they would install CleanSpace along the floors and walls. CleanSpace is a 7-layer, antimicrobial, reinforced vapor barrier that keeps out humidity, moisture, mold, pests, and more. It will also not rip or tear.
So, the homeowners agreed to this solution and the crew came out and installed everything the inspector proposed. The homeowners are thrilled with the results and are no longer worried or embarrassed about their crawl space or floor stability.
