Ron Hazelton's House Calls host had issues with basement flooding, which gave him issues during periods of heavy rains. After every storm, he would have to use a mop and a floor sucker to clear all the water. After a particularly large storm, he decided to resolve the issue once and for all and found Basement Systems, Inc.
CEO and Founder of Basement Systems, Inc., Larry Janesky inspected Ron’s home and gave a thorough evaluation. Through his assessment, he was able to find the exact issue and recommend the perfect solution.
Like many other homes, the ground around Ron’s house would become oversaturated with water after a storm. Hydrostatic pressure then built up and pushed that water against the foundation wall where it would seep into the basement through joints in the walls and floor.
After long term exposure to water, efflorescence could be seen all over the basement walls in the form of a chalky, powdery substance that built up over time. This usually happens when mineral-saturated water infiltrates the concrete and evaporates.
To resolve water seepage by hydrostatic pressure. Basement Systems, Inc. installed an internal perimeter drainage system that was designed to intercept water before entering the basement and divert it into a sump pump system, where it is then discharged out of the home and away from the foundation.
Larry and his crew installed the WaterGuard basement drainage system and a TripleSafe sump pump along with two backup pumps, for further peace of mind. The unsightly, efflorescence stained walls were covered with BrightWall rigid plastic wall panels. This basement wall system acts as a vapor barrier, blocking water seepage and humidity from entering, while also diverting the excess liquid to the drainage system.
