Mid-State Basement Systems' Build Day with Sleep in Heavenly Peace

At Mid-State Basement Systems, we're dedicated to making a difference in our community. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a remarkable organization committed to ensuring that "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!"

Who is Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)?

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non-profit organization driven by the mission to provide beds for children in need. They recognize the importance of a good night's sleep for every child's well-being and development. SHP chapters across the country organize "build days," where volunteers come together to construct beds from scratch, ensuring that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep. How We Got Involved

Our journey with SHP began at the Supportworks Redefine convention in March. During the event, Supportworks passionately encouraged all their product dealers to reach out to their local SHP chapters and organize a build day. They had the CEO of SHP out to speak to the crowd and personally ask for help in their mission. Inspired by this call to action, we immediately contacted our nearest SHP chapter to see how we could help.

The Build Day

Although our local SHP chapter was unavailable for the nationwide build day on July 12th, we were determined to contribute. We scheduled our build day for August 2nd, eager to support this wonderful cause on any available date.

On the day of the event, the Mid-State crew gathered with enthusiasm and a shared sense of purpose. Our team was encouraged to bring their families, making this huge effort to build beds for children in need a family affair. By the end of the day, we had constructed close to 50 beds, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team. They spent the day cutting, sanding, drilling and staining all the parts to make a safe, sturdy bed for children in need that will last them a long time! We also fed our crew of volunteers with the Dos Hermanos taco truck! 

Delivering Joy to Our Community

The highlight of the day was delivering eight of these newly built beds to children in our community. Seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing that we had made a tangible difference in their lives was incredibly rewarding. Each bed delivered meant a child would no longer have to sleep on the floor, but instead, have a safe and comfortable place to rest and dream.

Continuing the Mission

Our build day with SHP was just the beginning. We are committed to supporting this cause and encouraging others to get involved. There are countless children in need of beds, and every effort helps bring us closer to the goal that no child sleeps on the floor. There are over 6,000 requests for beds in the Columbus area alone, so the job is far from over. 

We are grateful to SHP for their dedication and for allowing us to be part of their mission. We also extend our thanks to Supportworks for inspiring us to take action. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community and beyond.
